Earth Day was created in 1970 by Wisconsin Senator Gaylord Nelson as a way to bring attention to the need to preserve the environment. It is officially celebrated on April 22, but should be observed all year round.

one thing that i'm goingf to do is ask my mom to change the lights and turn of the water while brushing their teethand lots of other stuff.

There's a lot of good ideas on here. I hope you get a chance to read other people's responses to give you more ideas. Choose a few and when you've got those mastered, choose a few more. Start little, then grow your conservation efforts.
I also hope you do these things year round, not just on Earth Day!
